I'm a 26 year old man playing a female ranger/mesmer as my primary character, and it happens at least once per day to me. I ignore it.
I also have been spending more time on my male fighter/elem, and lemme say this, he now deals over 110 damage with a sword
People are annoying, but you can overcome the bullshit by simly not reacting. Many people take a reaction as an invitation. Ignore them or change districts, and they will get bored and leave you be. Most of the time.

First I run a Guild that has 16 members and 5 are female and I'd bet that that is a good ratio because of the number of females that I've come accross on the forums. So just for clarification, I'd guess that about 30% of the GW population is female.
As for "people" being annoying, well there is only one way around that, and they have a word for it....HERMIT, if you want to move out in the woods and talk to the trees that might be the only way to get away from annoying "people"

Man, have some fun. See how much you can string them along before you tell them you're a guy. My husband's done it once or twice with his female toon. It's great.

Now just to set the record straight on this, I did not do this on purpose and I do play a male ranger as my other primary. (It's o.k., I'm secure in my masculinity.)
However, I'm also a very friendly and helpful person in-game usually. And "Friendly" is perceived differently I think when it's coming from a long-haired scraggly male ranger, or a classy, beautiful female mesmer.

I did it a couple times way back in the day playing Anarchy Online.
Now when they try, I tell them to give me a minute, I have a hairy ass to itch.

Might not work--I think there are some guys who are into the "au natural" look
You might develop a perv following saying that.

I make them give me gifts if they want future considerations. Hey, a girl (or a guy playing a girl) has to make a living somehow.

LoL. Eww... @_o
Better just say that I need to readjust the boys?
Yea, I'd rather not have someone asking me "Want a hand with that?"

do a search in riverside inn and you'll see there are plenty of female GW players just on this forum, let alone in game. Anyway now a guy knows how it feels So next time you men want to start hitting on a lil female, don't
Or maybe us girls should all make guys and hit on the guys that play female toons.... hmm.... /plot
lol anyway more seriously, this is why most females won't own up to the fact they're female when in-game. I sure don't. Coz you get all the no-brained sex-mad kids (and grown men ) immediately hitting on you. Course having my boyfriend in my party always helps put them off rofl

So, you think my telling them that in real life I am a 19 year old Russian lesbian nymphomaniac is sending the wrong signals?

Umm according to Geek code 134 chapter 15 article 5: If you are not married in-game it does not count.
Quote:
Real world marriages and/or relations will not in any way influence, direct, or control virtual avatars within the scope of any virtual world they may claim citizenship status therein. Nor do real world partners and/or significant others have any proprietary rights to your virtual avatar or properties. In cases of in-game conflicts the interest of said in-game husband will supercede any and all claims made by aforementioned out of game individuals.

So--any true LFL (looking for love) gamer would just ignore this and continue to pursue you.

Okay, so they don't pee standing up. What does that have to do with Guild Wars?

What I find weird is that I know a large amount of female players who play male characters to avoid such things.
And also strangely enough I know an equal amount of guys who pretend to be female characters...
